The first day of October is gloomy with residual hurricane breeze and misty rain. It sets the mood. The Autumn equinox brought cool air and gold light. October begins and a gloom appropriately shrouds the surrounding mountains. I have been homebound and buzzing with restlessness. A restlessness that canning and wood-burning and reading doesn't fix. I stand at the windows and marvel at the gloom and life. My on-call schedule ends tonight at midnight and tomorrrow I will steal alway to the mountains again.
Appropriately, the first day of October has me checking out books on cryptids and fables from the library. Currently I am biding my time at a bookstore before I make the drizzly commute to work. It's my Friday and I'm wearing my first sweater of the season. My mind, as always, is ready to steep in a cryptid darkness and this month will be composted into fantastic fodder.
